Why Diets Don’t Work

First off diets slow your metabolism. Fat is a survival mechanism developed by our body to keep us from starving to death during long periods without food. going on a reduced calorie diet punches this survival mechanism into full gear and virtually assures your failure to you reaching your goal. When you go on a diet and reduce your calorie intake or only eat one or two meals a day, your body goes into starvation mode. it doesn’t know that you’re intentionally not eating. It assumes there is no food available and that there may not be for a period of time. To keep you from starving before your next meal, it slows down your metabolism and starts to store the food you eat as fat. Even though you think you are doing a justice by eating less food, your body starts metabolizing it more slowly burning less for energy and more as fat. This means that that even though you are eating less, you may not lose the weight. In fact you may actually gain weight by going on the low calorie diet. This is why failing on a diet, most people often gain more weight back than they lost. They’ve slowed down their metabolism so much that virtually everything they eat gets stored as fat. Remember the first three letters of Diet = Die
